Batumi or other must-sees in Georgia

I am going to be in Georgia for 5 days or so at the end of June - beginning of July. We are planning on staying in Tblisi for a few days but would like to visit another city as well. Does anyone have any recommendations? I heard Batumi is nice this time of year but I%26#39;m concerned that there might not be enough to do while there. Can anyone provide insight? Any other tips to visitors (must-sees, etc.)?

Batumi or other must-sees in Georgia

Well, Batumi is one of the most beautiful cities in Georgia, I would say that it definitely is must-see place, as you do not have too much time, I would suggest to see cave town Uplistsikhe near the city Gori, on the way from Tbilisi to Batumi, in Gori there is also house museum of Stalin, if you are interested, You will also pass the second biggest cities in Georgia Kutaisi, i would suggest to see Gelati and Bagraty cathedralt there, anyway depends on what are you interested in and what you want to see, monuments, natural parks, sea. I would not suggest to go to the easter part of Georgia at that period, this region is famous for wine making but will be hot at that time.

will be glad if i can help

Batumi or other must-sees in Georgia

Hi TheatreGal

I think Kravia has about the best plan. The problem you have is just the five days.

Due my work schedule I simply don%26#39;t have enough time to do all the things I want to. One other place you should consider is the National Park at Borjomi.

When you are in Tbilisi drop me an e-mail to dudingeo@hotmail.com and we%26#39;ll take a good local beer or two before you venture off to where-ever you decide to go.

PS.... sorry about the English spelling. I know it should be Theatre but I just cannot get used to American spelling.';Hava a Nice Day';

I%26#39;d second Kravai%26#39;s suggestion, especially given the time of year that you%26#39;re going. We just got back this week after six days, taking a few day trips out of Tbilisi, because we didn%26#39;t have enough time to get to Batumi. The weather was cooler than it will be in the summer, so we enjoyed sightseeing in Kakheti (we travelled overland from Azerbaijan) and then stayed a few days in Tbilisi, including touring the old town. We went out to Kazbegi, which was beautiful because it had just snowed for a couple of days. Then, on to Gori (visit Stalin museum), Uplistsikhe, Borjomi, with a walking tour in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park. The park is not like the national parks we have in CA (think Yosemite), but we were glad for the walk because we enjoyed the food and wine a little too much in Georgia :-) The next day, we went out to Vardzia, which was pretty cool.

We prefer to use guesthouses and 3* hotels, but splurge on private car/driver and guide. We used Exotour, which did an outstanding job of arranging everything for us, including great meals. If you want more details, let me know. I hope you love Georgia as much as we did/do.

I%26#39;d recommend seeing:

- Tbilisi, Old Town

- Mount Kazbegi (about 2.5 hours away, but a two day round trip if you want to climb to the church, it%26#39;s a MUST SEE)

- Sighnaghi (in Kakheti, about 2 hours away, a day trip, town on top of a mountain, pretty)

OR instead of Sighnaghi

- Mtskheta (about 30 minutes away, the ancient capital with lovely churches including one perched on a mountain- the Georgian way)

:)

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have fun. Lovely country, warm people, delicious food :)
