I%26#39;m wondering what exactly the cost of things are in Georgia in comparison to England.
For example, When I visited Poland, everything there was very cheap indeed. However when I took a look at Hotel prices in Tbilisi for example. They were coming up at £60+ a night! Thats the same as England!
Was I wrong to be under the impression that Georgia was a poorish country? I was hoping to go out there and get wasted on a Fiver like I could in Poland :D
Prices in Georgia.
Hi Luger84,
Hotel prices here vary quite a lot. In the centre of Tbilisi you can expect the same a the centre of anywhere else.
The price of a pint varies a lot too.
The pub next to my office is 1.50GEL = $0.98 = 49p
Mr. Sporrans Bar (The Hangar) 2.00GEL = $1.30 = 65p
Expats looking for home bars 5.50GEL = $3.59 = 179p
So that%26#39;s the booze price range. This is for draught Kazbegi which is brewed locally and is excellent. If you want Corona or Heinekin etc expect to pay through the nose. There is also draught Guiness which is about the same price as the UK.
Eating out has vastly various prices. Prices at the Marriott are extortionate but if you remember that Georgians love their food and there are thousands of local places to eat.
The Hangar Bar is my favourite. The food is excellent European flavour but not expensive. Rebbecca has been experimenting with roast lunches on Sundays. She has now mastered the hardest part (Yorkshire Pudding) I tried some last night and certainly gave her more marks out of ten than she got last week..!!
When you know when you will be here e-mail me on dudingeo@hotmail.com and I will arrange to meet up with you.
