Hi,
can anyone please recommend me a nice place to stay in the central Tbilisi, I%26#39;m interested in mid- to low-range hotels.
There are many hotels and guesthouse websites to be found on the web, but i%26#39;d rather ask someone who%26#39;s been there recently.
Thanks!
Tbilis hotels
Hi,
we just got back after a week%26#39;s scouting trip - we%26#39;re are moving to Tbilisi in September.
We stayed in Hotel Dzveli Metekhi / Old Metekhi located right next to the Metekhi church and bridge. From here you walk 10-15 minutes to Rustavelli avenue, passing through the old town. At the Europe Square it is easy to get a taxi to take you where ever you want to go.
I can recommend you try to get a mansarda room. +/- 70 Euro per night clean, (although not environmentally friendly - new sheets and towels every day...)
There is no possibility of international calls - by the way calling in Georgia requires higher university degree ;-)
Due to the difficulties with the phone-lines there is no possibility of paying with credit cards, but there is a ATM machine right accross the street (';Visa'; only) . Other than that the city has ATM machines every couple of meters accepting Visa, Master-Card, Maestro and ALL working! (As opposed to Belgium...)
Staff in the hotel (depending on who it is and how long you have stayed) speak Georgian, Russian and some better English than others; They are everything: (extremely) friendly, cautious/reserved, curious, helpful, On the last day, we even managed to get a smile from the ';breakfast lady';.
It is deffinatley a Hotel I would recommend to family and friends.
Enjoy,
